MMRL articlesBelow are two letters written by RW Ronald Kamp, Director of Development and Communications, Masonic Medical Research Laboratory. The second appeared in the Observer Dispatch on October 12, 2009. Masons help change the face of medicineI read with great interest the front page article on Freemasonry in yesterday’s paper by Gary Stern. The article briefly touched on Masonic philanthropy but did not mention one of the crown jewels of Masonic Philanthropy, the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory (MMRL) in Utica, NY. From humble beginnings, the MMRL has grown steadily and significantly in size and international standing as a cardiology research institute. Categories: Grand Lodge of NY

MASONIC CAMP SEVEN REUNION on DECEMBER 5th,2009MASONIC CAMP SEVEN REUNION …
It all started almost a hundred years ago. A group of men, who belonged to an organization known as Masons, or Freemasons, decided they wanted to provide a summer vacation for little girls living in the “inner city” … a few weeks of sunshine and fresh air and wholesome food in a pristine, carefree environment these children might not otherwise enjoy in a time of severe financial hardship. It was in the early 1920’s, and the men belonged to a group of Masonic Lodges that comprised the Seventh Manhattan District. They purchased a hundred acre farm in Tallman, NY between Spring Valley and Suffern, in the foothills of the Ramapo Mountains, about 45 miles from Broadway, but a world away from the tenements and crowded city that predated the Great Depression. VETERANS PREVIOUSLY DENIED VA BENEFITS CAN REAPPLYVETERANS PREVIOUSLY DENIED VA BENEFITS CAN REAPPLY
In 1996 Congress established a priority based enrollment system for access to VA health care. In 2003, due to increased pressure on resources, enrollment was suspended for certain Veterans with incomes above "geographic means test" threshold. Last year, Congress passed legislation raising this income threshold by 10 percent. Starting this summer, VA began the process of contacting thousands of Veterans who had previously been denied enrollment If you were denied enrollment on the basis of your income, contact the nearest VA Medical Center eligibility office to determine if you are eligible under the new guidelines. While there will undoubtedly continue to be much interest and speculation throughout the profane world about the Categories: Grand Lodge of NY
